Reading plans correctly: Theoretical training for apprentices

Röthis, 06.03.2018 – Due to the extremely cold conditions outside, the apprentices of PORR affiliate Nägele Hoch- und Tiefbau GmbH have taken part in training relating to the theory behind construction plans. This enabled the young specialists, now in their second year of training, to escape the icy temperatures and bring their theoretical knowledge up to date.

The training covered various types of plans, such as architectural drafts and planning submission designs, and also addressed execution plans, detailed drawings and structural plans. The eager apprentices were introduced to the different ways each plan type is presented. However, this also served to illustrate how complex it is for foremen and skilled tradespeople to translate specifications into reality on the construction site.

The training provided an insight into reinforcement plans, with their item number identification and accompanying reinforcement lists, which the young specialists of tomorrow found particularly fascinating.

The sessions also dealt with an array of specialist terms thrown up by the planning documents, thereby consolidating the theoretical knowledge that specialist technicians require.

Sincere thanks go to our foreman Stefan Kofler: a former apprentice, he presented these topics to our up-and-coming staff in an interesting and exciting manner.
